Rugby Tours of Japan

Japan Rugby is the sleeping giant of Rugby Union.

Just recently Japan created history by beating the current Six Nations champions Wales 23-8, their first ever victory over a major rugby nation in nearly 80 years of international competition. Most people don’t know that Rugby was first introduced to Japan in 1899 with their first international match taking place against a Canadian team in 1932. Japan is traditionally the strongest rugby union power in Asia but has enjoyed and endured mixed results against non-Asian teams over the years. This recent win against Wales and the staging of the Rugby Union World Cup in 2019, firmly puts them on the map.

Japan is developing a number of truly amazing world class players that participate in the Japanese league.  Things it seems are on the rise in the Land of the Rising Sun.

In 2019 Japan will host its first Rugby World Cup in 2019 and we know that they will put on a great show which will ultimately make Japan a sort after rugby tour destination.

Rugby Union competitions from the various University and high schools in Japan attract up to 40,000 spectators and schools from all over the world travel to Japan each year to compete. We anticipate demand from Australian Schools and Clubs will increase and will tour Japan to play Rugby.

Japan is now welcoming Rugby Unions teams from Australian Schools to Clubs. International Sports Tours can facilitate a great rugby experience and put together a tailor made rugby tour of Japan for your school or club.
